THE three inches of rain that have fallen since Good Friday have already produced a marked effect on the new golf course on the Lake Terang area, and in a comparatively short time at least nine of the holes, and possibly 12 or 15, will be available for play, though, of course, a certain amount of inconvenience is only to be expected during the first few weeks. The fairways, which have not been cut since before the recent dry spell, will all be cut again next week and should improve considerably with each cutting. On most of the greens the natural grasses have commenced to proliferate and the heavy seeding with New Zealand Brown Top seed has germinated. When this becomes stronger a fine mat of grass should result. But already the greens are requiring frequent cutting, and now that they have become set after the rain, rolling will soon make them playable. The Mt. Noorat links will soon be in fine playing order, as the greens ; have been top-dressed and watered and the fairways only require rain to put them in order. NEW MEMBERS Copies of the recently-adopted constitution are now available for all members of the Terang Golf Club and in future this constitution will govern all the club's activities. Special attention is directed to the clauses dealing with the election of new members (clause 15) and the responsibilities of members who are playing with non-members or visitors (clause 21). Any person who was not a financial member of the club last year may be elect ed a member by the committee, but application must be made on the pre scribed form (available from the secretary, Mr. E. AY. Doney. telephone 211) and must be in the hands of the secretary 10 days before the committee meeting. It is, therefore, advisable that immediate application be made so as to enable new members to come up for election at the iMViy meeting of the committee and thus be able to avail themselves of the club's facilities from the outset. The committee has made arrangements with Mr. R. AY. McKenzie to collect green fees and issue receipts at the Terang Mechanics' Institute. ARRANGEMENTS FOR CLUB HOUSE The committee has completed arrangements with the Terang Bowling Club whereby the bowling club's pavilion will be available to members of the golf flub for use as a pavilion, and, the committee requests that all golfers show their appreciation of the gesture by caring for the bowling club's properties, and particularly the green itself. ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION The constitution provides that annual subscriptions are due on April 1 of each year, and makes further pro vision in cases where they are not arranged for by June 1. Notwithstanding the above requirements, it would be of great assistance to the committee if all who could do so. paid their subscription to the treasurer (Mr. E. R. Emery, Commercial Banking Company of Sydney Ltd.) as soon as possible, as the club's finances have been severely taxed by the expenses involved in the construction of the new course; it would be a nice j gesture if those club members who were unable to assist by taking out debentures could make their annual subscriptions available immediately. CLUB FIXTURES AND TROPHIES As the fixture cards are now being drawn up, members who are willing to donate trophies for competition during the season are asked to notify Mr. Doney as soon as possible. This presents a favorable opportunity for members to assist the club's finances and to enable an interesting competition to be conducted each Saturday. The club has been very fortunate in the past in having so many loyal sup porters who come forward year after year. However, there are still a few spare Saturdays available for any further competitions that may be spon sored.
